The local emergency department said 19 people died in the fire and two others died after being rescued. About 20 other injured people were taken to hospital.

The wooden hospital building was completely destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown. However, according to Russian media, the tragic accident was caused by an outdated electrical system that short-circuited.

According to Russia's NTV television station, many patients refused to leave the burning building because they had previously used sedatives and sleeping pills and were unaware of the danger around them.

It is known that every year Russia has dozens of deaths due to fires, mainly due to poor facilities and lax fire prevention measures, especially in medical facilities.

One of them is the recent fire at a drug rehabilitation center in Altai, Siberia that killed 8 people in April 2014, or before that, the fire at a psychiatric hospital in Northwest Russia in September 2013 that killed 37 people...
