"We are dissatisfied with such an assessment," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

According to him, the Kremlin also regrets that Russia and the United States do not understand each other in their desires for future bilateral relations. He stressed: "This is why we are looking forward to the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries... They can privately exchange views on the issues of most concern.

"Most importantly, this will be an opportunity to get acquainted and finally understand each other's genuine approach to bilateral relations, and not the approach that is portrayed in the mass media," Peskov said.

Earlier the same day, speaking at a press conference in the Polish capital Warsaw, Mr. Trump announced that the US is cooperating with Poland to deal with Russia's increasingly destabilizing behavior.
