Russia bans US from monitoring future elections

(Baonghean.vn)- On November 8, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a diplomatic note to US officials to announce that US diplomats will not be allowed to monitor future elections in Russia.

RIA news agency quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying that the move was Russia's response to Washington's obstruction of Russian diplomats trying to monitor whether the US presidential election was rigged.

A day earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was directly pressuring Russian diplomats not to go to polling stations for the US presidential election on November 8. According to Ms. Zakharova, FBI agents with "open intimidation" implied that Moscow had better not pay attention to the US election.
