This is considered a comment on the initiative called the Countering the Kremlin's Toxic Influence (CMKI) Development Framework recently proposed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Earlier in the day, USAID said that its head, Mark Green, had briefed Washington’s partner countries and organizations on the CMKI. The document listed the areas the initiative would target, including countering actions that undermine the rule of law and democratic institutions, independent media, energy, and economic security.
"Of course, this program of action outlined by a high-ranking official of the current US administration is disappointing. This is in stark contrast to the constructive tone of the recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump at the G20 Summit in Osaka. It is clear that influential officials in Washington are doing everything possible to prevent the goal of normalizing Russian-US relations and even further undermine it," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement also criticized the CMKI as a tool for ideological struggle and propaganda, but emphasized that Russia has always shown goodwill for constructive cooperation with the US.
