Russia criticizes US for providing lethal weapons to Kiev

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 19, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed that the US's provision of lethal weapons to Kiev will not resolve the situation in Donbass, but will instead fuel tensions.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Peskov said: "We have expressed a clear position on this issue. Firstly, such a decision will not promote the settlement of the conflict in southeastern Ukraine. Secondly, it will escalate tensions... We do not know what the US position is on this issue." The Kremlin representative added that whether Washington grants loans to Kiev or not is a matter between the two countries.

Earlier the same day, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the US Senate had approved the allocation of 500 million USD to support Ukraine in the fields of security and defense, and announced that Kiev would receive defensive lethal weapons./.
