Russia suggests to the US a plan to normalize relations

(Baonghean) - Ria Novosti news agency reported that next spring, Russia will send the US President's administration a plan to coordinate implementation and restore relations between Moscow and Washington.

According to information from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the plan will provide solutions to normalize communication channels of the "diplomatic path", as well as "special relationship" "links" that were "frozen" under the previous president Barack Obama.

Responding to the press about the above information, US State Department press spokeswoman Heather Nauert said: "We are looking forward to, and committed to, normalizing relations with Russia."

Ms. Nauert added that US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has mentioned the US-Russia relationship many times, and hopes that both sides will have more realistic approaches in areas with great potential for mutual development. "As for areas where there are still opposing views, the US will try to cooperate based on respect for the interests of both countries," Ms. Nauert expressed.

Previously, at a press conference, the US State Department also affirmed its desire for Moscow and Washington to stop "tit for tat" and "cool down" diplomatic relations.

In response to the US's wishes, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the US Anatoly Antonov also reaffirmed that Moscow is ready for each specific "step" to improve relations with Washington, as well as cooperate with the US on international issues. And "this can only be achieved on the basis of equality, mutual respect and by all means balancing the interests of both sides".

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that its diplomatic response measures were the result of a series of hostile moves by Washington, including "illegal" sanctions as well as false accusations against Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov affirmed that Russia always aims to improve bilateral relations and behave properly, but US policy is in the hands of a group of politicians with anti-Russian ideology and is pushing Washington towards confrontation. Moscow's response measures are in line with international practice and aim to make the US think about the harmful effects of sanctions./.
