Russia calls on President Zelensky to adequately assess the situation in Ukraine
Currently, there is no signal from the team of new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that they want to send ambassadors to Kiev and Moscow. Russia expects that at some point they will discuss this matter, the statement said.
According to Andrei Rudenko, head of the II Department on CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the decision to recall the ambassador was made by Ukraine.

“We are not insisting or imposing anything on anyone. As far as we know, Ukraine is not currently preparing to appoint a new ambassador, at least under President Petro Poroshenko. And there has been no such signal from the new government,” Mr. Rudenko said when asked if there were any prospects for the two countries’ ambassadors to return to Moscow and Kiev.
“There is nothing from the new government yet,” he reiterated.
As the diplomat pointed out, the new Ukrainian authorities have made very contradictory statements on all aspects, both about the Minsk process and about bilateral relations with Moscow.
“So we will wait for their reaction. We are aiming for the positive side. We are not going to artificially limit this relationship any more than we have already done,” Mr. Rudenko commented.
