Russia does not agree to Ukraine restoring 1991 borders

According to RIA Novosti, the Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on Ukraine's drone attack on the market in Oleshki, said that the country will never allow Ukraine to restore the 1991 borders,

“It is obvious that behind the useless and baseless statements of the Kiev authorities and their supporters in the West about the so-called restoration of Ukraine within the 1991 borders lies Russia’s instinct to destroy everything. Of course, Russia will never allow such a scenario to become a reality,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the Ukrainian drone attack on the market in Oleshki was “a bloody war crime against civilians”. The attack was deliberately carried out on a holiday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that all those guilty and involved in Kiev’s barbaric attack on Aleshki will be identified and punished according to the law. The incident also raises questions about the conscience of those who supply weapons and finance to Ukraine.

Therefore, Russia calls on the international community to condemn this brutal terrorist attack.

On May 1, the governor of the Aleshki region, Vladimir Saldo, said that the Ukrainian armed forces attacked the city of Aleshki in the Kherson region. After the first attacks, which left many people dead and injured, the Ukrainian armed forces continued to use drones to search for survivors. According to the head of the region, the attack left 7 people dead and more than 20 injured.

The Kherson region is located downstream of the Dnieper River, bordering the Sea of ​​Azov and the Black Sea. Part of the region was annexed by Russia in September 2022, following a referendum. Ukraine does not recognize its legitimacy and continues to shell the territory.

Currently, the Russian army controls 75% of the Kherson region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces hold the right bank of the Dnieper River including the city of Kherson.
