Russia does not invite Ukrainian President to attend the parade

On his personal Twitter page, Senator Aleksei Pushkov commented on the decision not to invite Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to attend the Victory Parade in Red Square, Moscow, Russia.
Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of President Vladimir Putin, stated that Moscow did not invite Zelensky to attend the parade. Mr. Peskov emphasized that Ukraine is not a member of the CIS and does not express any desire and share the joy of the ceremony.
Senator Pushkov noted that there was no reason to invite Mr. Zelensky to the Victory Parade.
"Moreover, if there is an invitation, it will be 100% rejected. And then it will become an excuse for the media to "keep an eye on" it, and an opportunity for Zelensky to demonstrate his political weight" - Senator Pushkov wrote on Twitter.
According to annual tradition, the Victory Parade to celebrate the victory over Nazi Germany is held on May 9 in Red Square, Moscow, Russia.
However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Russian President Putin decided to postpone military parades and fireworks displays nationwide.
Currently, when the epidemic is under control, President Putin has ordered the Ministry of Defense to prepare for the military parade, which will be held on June 24.
In Russian history, June 24 was the first day Russia held a military parade right after defeating Nazi Germany in World War II.
