Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh inspected the damage recovery work caused by storm No. 10 in Yen Hoa, Yen Na and Nga My communes.
On the morning of October 4, a working delegation of the Provincial Party Committee led by Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation inspected the damage recovery work caused by storm No. 10 (Bualoi) in the communes of Yen Hoa, Yen Na, and Nga My.

2 people missing and much economic damage
According to reports from local Party committees and authorities, due to the impact of storm No. 10, from September 28 to October 3, the communes experienced heavy rain, strong winds, and flash floods; causing great damage to traffic infrastructure, irrigation, schools, medical stations, electricity and telecommunications systems, domestic water works and housing, as well as people's facilities and production.

In Nga My commune, due to rain, floods and landslides, 7 villages were isolated; 63 houses were damaged, of which 4 were completely washed away; nearly 150 hectares of rice, crops and forestry were damaged; many pig and poultry farms and fish ponds were washed away.
In the area, 4 bridges were completely washed away; 5 bridges were eroded, causing damage to bridge piers; many roads were eroded, causing traffic jams. Some irrigation works, markets, medical stations, schools, electricity were damaged... Total damage from storm No. 10 in Nga My commune is estimated at about 55 billion VND.

Previously, to proactively prevent storms and landslides, Nga My commune organized an emergency evacuation of 69 households from the danger zone, and mobilized forces to overcome traffic and communication damage. By the end of October 3, the locality had repaired and initially temporarily opened the road for 4/7 isolated villages.

In Yen Na commune, as of October 3, the entire commune had 137 houses damaged, flooded or landslides; 22 barns were swept away; more than 86 hectares of agricultural and forestry production were damaged. In the commune, there were 14 landslides, causing traffic jams; many electric poles and power lines were broken; 3 schools had damaged facilities.


To proactively prevent and combat storm No. 10, before the storm made landfall, the Party Committee and government of Yen Na commune deployed response plans, established 24/7 command teams; organized the emergency evacuation of 69 households out of the danger zone, and initially repaired traffic and communication.

The most serious damage was in Yen Hoa commune where 2 victims were swept away by floodwaters. Authorities are currently searching for them. Regarding housing, the entire commune has 255 houses affected, of which 8 houses completely collapsed, 4 houses were damaged 50-70%, 9 houses had to be urgently evacuated, 234 houses were flooded and had landslides. 3 villages are still isolated.

Regarding people's production, more than 135 hectares of agricultural land were damaged or lost; 45 barns were flooded with nearly 3,300 livestock and poultry swept away. Irrigation and transportation systems were severely damaged, many roads and bridges collapsed, isolating 3 villages with nearly 1,500 people; electricity and telecommunications were interrupted, some areas lost contact. Total damage was estimated at about 69 billion VND.

Currently, the Party Committee and government of Yen Hoa commune are mobilizing the entire political system and people to focus on overcoming and clearing traffic, restoring schools, supporting damaged households, and at the same time requesting superiors to soon support funding and means to stabilize life and production.

In addition to efforts to overcome the situation with the motto "4 on-site", localities also requested the provincial working group to support the rapid restoration of traffic works, medical facilities, schools, electricity and telecommunications systems, etc.; at the same time, provide financial support to localities and households whose houses were swept away, collapsed, or flooded to urgently repair and rebuild their houses and stabilize their lives.

Absolutely ensure a stable life for the people
After inspecting the damage situation and the work to overcome the consequences of storm No. 10 in the localities, on behalf of the working delegation, Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation highly appreciated the proactiveness of the localities in responding, especially in identifying vulnerable points at risk of landslides that threaten the lives of people to evacuate to a safe place before the storm hits.
At the same time, immediately after the storm, the entire political system, police and military forces, and the people were focused on directing and mobilizing to overcome the consequences, contributing to limiting damage and ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also requested that localities continue to review key and dangerous points at risk of landslides to evacuate people, absolutely not be subjective or negligent. Along with that, continue to send cadres to stay close to the grassroots, coordinate with forces to ensure people's lives as the top priority; associated with promoting the "4 on-site" motto to urgently repair essential works, especially clean water works, electricity and schools to ensure students return to school soon, in which attention should be paid to supporting books, notebooks and school supplies for students.

Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh requested localities to quickly and objectively calculate the damage, and continue to proactively respond to possible floods in the coming time. From the province's support sources and reserve funds, relief and support work must be deployed immediately to help people stabilize their lives and restore production and daily life.
On this occasion, the provincial delegation provided 2 billion VND in cash to each of the three communes of Yen Hoa, Yen Na and Nga My to help them overcome the consequences of the storm and flood. In addition, the delegation also provided 10 tons of rice and 21 aid packages to families whose houses were washed away or completely collapsed in the three localities.
