Mr. Punchuk said the two sides are studying the possibility of upgrading existing repair facilities in Cuba because Havana is currently facing many financial difficulties in purchasing new equipment.
Last year, the Russian Helicopters Association announced that maintenance of Mi-8/17/171 helicopters could be carried out at the Yuri Gagarin defense industry plant in Havana instead of being brought to Russia, once the facility is properly renovated.
Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Gueorgui Kalamanov also mentioned the possibility that Russian helicopter maintenance facilities in Cuba will in the future serve other Russian customers in Latin America./.
