Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the US and its allies, Britain and France, ordered an attack on Syria at the right time when the Syrian people had just "opened up" about a peaceful future.
“First, the Syrian people had to go through and endure the “Arab Spring” movement, then the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS), and now the “smart” missiles of the United States.
For many years, a sovereign state has been trying to survive in conditions of terrorist aggression and attacks,” Maria Zakharova wrote on her personal Facebook page.
Zakharova stressed that Western media need to understand the responsibility of the US, UK and France when deciding to attack Syria.
“The White House’s confidence in Syria’s ability to use chemical weapons in Damascus is based solely on media reports such as videos and photos reporting symptoms, without providing concrete, reliable evidence. The US and Western media agencies should clearly understand their responsibility when making these statements,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Responding to the military airstrike on Syria, the Russian Embassy in the US immediately announced that the US and its allies in Syria would face serious consequences. "At that time, Washington has no right to blame anyone," said Ambassador Antoni Antonov.
