Russia, USA, North Korea nuclear war, where is the safe haven?

If a nuclear war broke out between the US and Russia or the US and North Korea, there would be very few areas that would be safe havens.

According to the British newspaper Express, there are many cities in the US that you would not want to stay in in the event of a nuclear war.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Resources Defense Council have released a map showing dangerous areas that would certainly be targeted by attack, crowded cities that could be crushed by nuclear warheads, and places where war could be avoided and American citizens could survive.

In a potential nuclear war, there are up to 2,000 locations across the United States that could potentially be targeted for destruction. Large, densely populated cities and important military bases would be the first targets.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Resources Defense Council's nuclear war map shows that areas marked with purple triangles are large cities that would be easy targets for attack to cause the greatest possible casualties, while black circles are smaller cities, military bases and missile launch sites.

According to this map, almost every US state could be targeted and suffer heavy damage. Only South Dakota and Idaho are considered to be five times less likely to be attacked.

However, even some large, populous, and developed states, such as California, still have a chance of surviving a nuclear attack.

For example, the coasts of northern California and Oregon do not have any missile targets. Especially because of the wind direction in the area, the coasts of northern California and Oregon would not be exposed to radioactive fallout from other locations.

However, the safest places to escape nuclear war that could shelter thousands of people are the nuclear bunkers built across the United States. Some of the super bunkers are top secret locations.

One of those bunkers is the massive underground Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base in Colorado. It is dug deep into a mountain and is impenetrable to all missiles. It was once the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), so it is very fortified and would certainly survive a nuclear war.

Currently, the nuclear bunker construction industry in the US is also booming after Donald Trump was elected President of the US.

Tensions on the Korean peninsula have escalated sharply since last week, when the US Navy fired 59 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian military base after accusing the Assad government of using chemical weapons to kill civilians.

The US move raised concerns that North Korea would be the next target of bombing when one of President Trump's sons himself made the same statement.

The Trump administration has warned that its "policy of patience" with North Korea is over and sent an aircraft carrier strike group, led by the nuclear-powered USS Carl Vinson, to the Korean peninsula.

Rumors have been circulating that President Donald Trump will order a bombing campaign against North Korea this weekend amid reports that Pyongyang is “preparing for a major event,” possibly a sixth nuclear test.

US warships have taken position, one of them is only about 300 miles from North Korea’s nuclear test site. US heavy bombers based in Guam are also ready to strike if necessary.

The move has angered North Korea, with Pyongyang warning that it will launch a devastating attack if US warships take provocative action.
