Foreign Minister Lavrov outlined conditions for expanding 'Turkish Stream' into the EU market. |
"For more than 20 years, the Russian Federation has been a reliable energy supplier, covering 60% of gas needs and more than 15% of oil needs," Lavrov said.
He noted that there are additional prospects for possible cooperation, including the conclusion of an agreement on the Turkish Stream. "Having gone through the bitter experience of the South Stream, we are ready to expand this branch to the EU only if we receive absolutely strong guarantees from Brussels for the project," the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
He also expressed hope that Brussels would start from practical considerations, rather than politicize the issue.
