Russia names countries that cannot mediate in Ukraine issue

Earlier, former Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Mr. Wolfgang Ischinger, called for the establishment of a contact group on Ukraine to "kick-start the peace process". This group is said to include Washington, London, Paris and Berlin.

Referring to the above proposal, the Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed: "Officially we know nothing about this initiative... However, Mr. Ischinger's idea raises legitimate questions. First of all, because all four countries mentioned are participants in the ongoing conflict with Russia on the territory of Ukraine."

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the above-mentioned countries supply weapons to the Ukrainian army, provide Ukraine with intelligence and target designation, train the Ukrainian armed forces and send mercenaries to the area of ​​special military operations.

"These countries impose illegal sanctions against Russia, freeze Russian foreign assets, and demand the establishment of a tribunal to punish the Russian leadership. They support Zelensky's fake peace initiative proposals, which are essentially ultimatums far from reality demanding our country's surrender," the ministry said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that these countries had previously "discredited themselves by supporting the anti-constitutional coup in Maidan and condoning Kiev's sabotage of the Minsk Agreements. Based on such a position, the United States, Great Britain, France and Germany cannot act as mediators to launch a peace process. They are not interested in resolving the crisis, but are doing everything possible to prolong the confrontation to the maximum extent."

Moscow believes that: "A truly comprehensive, just and sustainable solution to the conflict is possible only through the cessation of hostilities and the cessation of Western arms supplies, recognition of the new territorial reality, demilitarization and de-fascization of Ukraine, confirmation of its neutral and non-bloc status, the abolition of illegal sanctions against Russia, the withdrawal of anti-Russian lawsuits, the restoration of the Russian language, the restoration of the rights of national minorities and friendly relations with our country as well as other countries and peoples that are neighboring and close to Ukraine"./.
