The labor force graduating every year is very large, but supporting businesses still have difficulty recruiting because most of the personnel do not meet the requirements.

The supporting industry development program from 2016 to 2025 includes many different activities, identified by the Government as the basis for development and growth to become a sustainable industry in Vietnam.

One of the requirements set forth in this program is to actively support and train to improve the quality of human resources to meet the requirements of supporting industrial product manufacturing industries.

However, currently, the lack of and weak human resources is a major obstacle for many businesses operating in the supporting industry. Many supporting industry businesses still complain that they are facing difficulties because the majority of labor resources do not meet the requirements.

As a business operating in the field of precision mechanics specializing in processing products for customers in industrial zones, especially foreign enterprises, Mr. Le Huy Thuc, General Director of PMTT Group, said that it is very difficult for businesses to recruit workers, even though they have directly "ordered" from many universities and colleges.

“The current demand of businesses is to accept university graduates who can work immediately. While there is still a surplus of university-trained students, the current source of college and intermediate-level human resources is extremely scarce, making it very difficult for businesses to recruit,” said Mr. Thuc.

Looking at the current state of the supporting industry in recent years, it can be seen that the demand for supporting industry products is very large, especially when the investment speed of foreign enterprises in Vietnam is increasing. In the context of strong development of science and technology, the requirements for product quality of supporting enterprises will be increasingly strict.

In that context, in addition to investing more in new and modern technological lines to meet production requirements, enterprises need to equip high-quality human resources for this process. However, the current state of human resources in Vietnam through universities and colleges is showing inadequacies, not really training and providing quality human resources for enterprises.

Commenting on human resources for supporting industries in particular, Dr. Pham Xuan Khanh, Principal of Hanoi High Technology Vocational College (HHT), said that currently, schools and training facilities are mainly still training according to their own capacity and ability, leading to resources not really meeting the needs of businesses.

Meanwhile, businesses have not yet had a close connection with schools to request training that businesses need, which has led to many supporting businesses always lacking human resources.

“If we train students in a short term but they can work immediately after graduation, it is a very difficult requirement, in the context of workers not having skills. Short-term courses are only for those who need retraining, supplementary training or advanced training. To have highly skilled personnel, businesses need to closely follow the long-term training process. There should be additional support or direct support for workers, or provide funding for training facilities according to the number of people registering for courses,” Dr. Pham Xuan Khanh stated.

According to Dr. Pham Xuan Khanh, the huge challenge for human resources as Vietnam increasingly integrates deeply with the world economy is that skilled, experienced, and fluent workers from other countries will move to Vietnam. In particular, the challenges from the 4.0 Industrial Revolution that is spreading globally require Vietnamese human resources to have specific development plans and strategies, seize opportunities from 4.0, and overcome challenges.

In recent years, the Government has issued many policies for the development of supporting industries, but their implementation to enterprises is still limited. In addition to human resources issues, supporting enterprises are also "stuck" with many problems such as bank capital, land, conditions for supporting promotion - connecting supply and demand...

Therefore, to develop the supporting industry, Mr. Nguyen Hoang, Chairman of the Hanoi Supporting Industry Business Association emphasized that there needs to be breakthroughs in implementation with determination from all levels and sectors to concretize policies, so that businesses can access financial and technological resources, towards connecting domestic and foreign businesses right in the Vietnamese market./.
