On March 15, 2026, voters will go to the polls to elect the new National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.
On the morning of May 21, under the direction of Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, the National Assembly voted and passed important resolutions related to the term of the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.

Accordingly, the National Assembly passed a Resolution on shortening the term of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term. Specifically, the term of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the current term will be shortened by 3 months compared to the previous regulations.

On the basis of shortening the term, the National Assembly also voted to pass a Resolution on the election date of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. According to the resolution, the national election day will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

The Resolution assigns responsibility to the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Election Council, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and relevant agencies and organizations according to their responsibility for implementation.
