((Baonghean.vn) - Holding her 10-year-old son and leaving, Ms. Hong dreamed of an easy job with a high salary that the woman she had just met had promised. The car started moving, and she fell into a daze after drinking a glass of water given to her by the person accompanying her. When she woke up, she found herself in a strange place, and her son had also disappeared. At this point, she realized she had been tricked. She was then sold to a Chinese man as his wife. After 22 years of wandering, she was recently welcomed back by her son to reunite with her family in Vietnam.

22 bitter years in a foreign land

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, residing in Hamlet 7A, Nam Thanh Commune, Nam Dan District, has just returned to reunite with her son after 22 years of wandering abroad. It is known that Ms. Hong lost her husband early and had to raise her son, Mr. Le Viet Dung, alone. Life for the mother and son was difficult, so Ms. Hong worked as a hired hand to support her son.

In 1994, Ms. Hong met a woman in Xuan Hoa commune. Through getting to know her, Ms. Hong told her about her life. The woman seemed sympathetic and promised to find Ms. Hong a job in a northern province. The job was easy, the salary was high, and especially Ms. Hong could bring her son along.

Overjoyed, Mrs. Hong quickly accepted. After saying goodbye to her neighbors, Mrs. Hong took her son to the North. The departure brought with it the hope of a new life for a widowed mother and orphaned child. However, after drinking a glass of water from the person accompanying her, Mrs. Hong fell into a daze.

When she regained consciousness, she found herself in a strange place, and her son was no longer by her side. Two days later, Ms. Hong was taken on a boat to the island. When she saw with her own eyes those people exchanging money, she bitterly realized that she had been sold. Ms. Hong was bought by a Chinese man to be his wife. Only later did she learn that it was in the remote countryside of Mien Xien, Hainan, China.

During the first days at her husband’s house, Ms. Hong missed her son and her home terribly. “When I woke up, I couldn’t find my son. At that time, I thought my son had been sold or died somewhere that I didn’t know about. Even so, I still hoped that my son would be safe so that one day I could find him.”

Every day, Ms. Hong and her husband farmed and raised livestock to make a living. In 1995, Ms. Hong gave birth to a daughter named Ly Xeo Vuon. Life was still not good, but Ms. Hong still looked forward to the day she would find her hometown and her son. In 1997, Ms. Hong gave birth to her second son, Ly Kiu Phun. At this time, Ms. Hong was trusted by her husband's family. In June 2010, Ms. Hong met a man from Nghi Loc district who was working in China. She told him her life story, read her hometown address and her son's name, and asked for help...

Tearful reunion

Returning home, the man went to Mrs. Hong's hometown. At that time, her son, Mr. Dung, had gotten married. Hearing that his mother was still alive, Mr. Dung was overjoyed. At that moment, Mr. Dung took out his phone number and called Mrs. Hong. Hearing his mother's voice, Mr. Dung burst into tears.

The day Mrs. Hong was sold, the traffickers took the 10-year-old boy back to his hometown to return him to his relatives. His father died, his mother was tricked and sold, and Dung was fortunately taken care of by his uncle. Since then, Dung has not known where his mother is. However, he has always longed to find her.

When he learned that his mother was still alive, Mr. Dung wanted to take her back to her hometown immediately. However, Mrs. Hong did not agree. Because her husband had passed away in China and her two children were still young, Mrs. Hong could not bear to leave her children behind. Mrs. Hong shared: "When I heard that my son was alive and being taken care of by relatives in my hometown, I was very happy."

I wanted to go back to my children immediately, but seeing my two children still young, I felt sorry for them. I decided to stay until they grew up." When Ms. Hong's two children in China grew up and got married, Ms. Hong decided to return. Last February 2016, Mr. Dung traveled to China to bring his mother back. After a few days of walking on a small road, Mr. Dung continued by fishing boat to Hainan Island and found his mother's house. When they met, mother and son hugged and cried. The moment of reunion in a foreign land was filled with tears.

That time, Mr. Dung stayed for more than 20 days so that his mother could arrange her work and then return. “The day I returned, the village had changed so much. When everyone heard that I was returning, they came to celebrate,” Ms. Hong happily said. Currently, her health is also getting worse, so she only hopes that if possible, she will bring her two children and grandchildren in China to visit her hometown.

Mr. Bui Thanh Hai - Chairman of Nam Thanh Commune People's Committee said: "The story of Ms. Hong being sold and returning is true. After returning, she reported to the local authorities. We have now completed the paperwork so that Ms. Hong can return to normal life soon."
