October 4, 1953:The Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam promulgates religious policies.

October 4, 1996:The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 369/1996/QD-TTg, taking October 4 of each year as “National Fire Prevention and Fighting Day”. The Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting issued in 2001 stipulates that October 4 of each year is “National Fire Prevention and Fighting Day”.

October 4, 2013:General Vo Nguyen Giap passed away. General Vo Nguyen Giap was the Commander-in-Chief, the first General of the Vietnam People's Army and the founder of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, the predecessor of the current Vietnam People's Army. General Vo Nguyen Giap contributed to directing major campaigns in the resistance wars against France and the US, of which two famous major campaigns were the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
