Nghe An: 100% of border communes have electricity and roads to the commune center.

(Baonghean.vn) – On the morning of September 15, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize 3 years of implementing the Project "Improving the quality of mass mobilization work, contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the western border of Nghe An province, period 2012 - 2015 and the following years".

The conference was chaired by Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Colonel Nguyen Van Tuy, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command; representatives of the Border Guard Command, the Political Department and representatives of relevant departments, agencies and branches.

The project “Improving the quality of mass mobilization work, contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the western border of Nghe An province, period 2012-2015 and the following years” aims to improve the material and spiritual life and awareness of people in border areas. Thereby consolidating and maintaining the position, the national border defense and territory, and border security sovereignty.

After 3 years of implementation, the project has achieved many remarkable results, specifically doing a good job of propaganda and education, constantly raising awareness in all aspects for all classes of people.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai highly appreciated the achievements of the project and at the same time thoroughly grasped the directions and tasks in the coming time.

In the economic field, many decisions, policies and projects have been thoroughly implemented to promote the construction of new rural areas as well as support rapid and sustainable poverty reduction for 62 poor districts. From there, exploit and promote local potential advantages to develop indigenous products into commodities; build highly effective household economic models such as: planting elephant grass, raising buffaloes and cows in Na Ngoi and Nam Can communes and raising cows and pigs in Nam Can of Ky Son district, black chicken raising model in Tam Hop (Tuong Duong), wet rice field reclamation model to convert 2 rice crops/year in Mon Son, Tri Le (Que Phong)...

Along with that, attracting investment capital to build and upgrade the infrastructure system has achieved good results. Up to now, 100% of border communes have national grid electricity system and asphalt road system to the commune center. The system of clinics and basic schools has been upgraded solidly.

From the project, the work of building the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos has been promoted and achieved many good results. Currently, 18/18 pairs of villages on both sides of the border and 5 Border Guard Stations have maintained a comprehensive good relationship, helping each other in economic, cultural and social development.

In addition to the achievements, the implementation of the project still has some limitations such as the quality of operations of the grassroots political system, although it has been built, has not really met the requirements of the task. On the other hand, the development of economic models has not yet fully promoted the potential of localities, people's lives are facing many difficulties, the poverty rate is still high, the quality of the mass movement to participate in protecting sovereignty and border security is still limited, leading to the security and order situation in some areas still having many potential complications.

Major General Le Nhu Duc - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard Command highly appreciated the project and recognized that Nghe An Border Guard had implemented the programs synchronously with good results. Especially the Border Shelter program and breeding cows to help the poor in the border.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Xuan Dai highly appreciated the results achieved from the project. He noted that in the coming time, departments, branches and sectors need to closely and synchronously coordinate with border districts to have policies, solutions and effective implementation plans, suitable to the conditions of each region. Along with that, promote propaganda and foreign affairs to strengthen sustainable relationships between residential areas on both sides of the border, further tightening the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 collectives and 7 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the project.
