Nghe An: 13/21 districts, cities and towns have dengue fever

13/21 districts, cities and towns have dengue fever
Information from the Nghe An Provincial Preventive Medicine Center: As of 4:00 p.m. this afternoon (August 11), Nghe An has 195 people with dengue fever, an increase of 1 person compared to August 10. Dengue fever has been present in 13/21 urban districts in the province, with no deaths.
The newly discovered patient with dengue fever is from the outbreak in Dien Ngoc commune. Thus, in Dien Ngoc commune, there are currently 82 cases of dengue fever. The rate of increase in cases in the commune has decreased, but the epidemic situation here is still complicated because the incubation period of dengue fever can last from 3 to 6 days (some cases can last up to 15 days).
Of the 195 dengue fever patients, 94 are foreign patients returning from epidemic areas. Nghe An has been doing a good job of containing and containing the epidemic. Apart from the two outbreaks in Dien Thinh and Dien Ngoc communes, there have been no other outbreaks in the area.

In general, the dengue fever epidemic situation in the area still has many risks of outbreaks and is very complicated. To better prevent dengue fever, recently, Nghe An Department of Health continued to issue Official Letter No. 1976/SYT-NVY requesting medical units in the whole province to urgently suppress the epidemic.
Doctor Nguyen Xuan Hong - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health said: The sector requires the Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine, the Medical Centers of 21 districts, towns and Vinh city to implement and direct the relevant grassroots health system to closely monitor the dengue fever epidemic situation, promptly detect outbreaks to isolate and thoroughly handle outbreaks immediately after detecting outbreaks to limit the spread to the community; organize training on disease surveillance and detection, communication skills, mobilizing the community to implement environmental sanitation, emergency and treatment protocols for dengue fever for grassroots health workers.

Request the Health Department to advise the People's Committees of districts, cities, towns and communes, wards and towns to organize the eradication of mosquito larvae in the area and maintain activities once a week in high-risk areas, twice a week in the remaining areas; spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes widely in areas at risk of dengue fever outbreaks and thoroughly spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes in areas at risk of outbreaks and thoroughly spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes in 100% of households in the epidemic areas according to the direction of the health sector; ensure resources for dengue fever prevention.
Request the Center for Health Education Communication to coordinate with the Center for Preventive Medicine and related units to strengthen communication on mass media about measures to prevent dengue fever.
Require medical examination and treatment facilities to perform well the work of regularly examining and treating infectious diseases to detect diseases early and promptly treat cases with severe progression; Prepare and organize admission, emergency care, and treatment of dengue fever to minimize deaths.
Efforts to control the epidemic
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh - Director of the Provincial Preventive Medicine Center: To implement measures to prevent dengue fever, the Provincial Preventive Medicine Center has organized quick training for units on handling outbreaks and treatment procedures; fully supported human resources, machinery, and chemicals for districts to respond adequately and promptly to contain the outbreak.
At the outbreak in Dien Ngoc commune, the Provincial Preventive Medicine Center, Dien Chau district and the District Health Center prioritized human resources, equipment and chemicals to treat patients at the Health Station; organized mosquito larvae eradication and sprayed chemicals to kill mosquitoes in 12/12 residential areas.
In Nghi Loc district - locality, 5/9 dengue fever patients (carrying the disease from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City) have been cured by the district General Hospital, 1 more serious case was transferred to a higher level. The district hospital is actively treating the remaining 3 patients.
During the treatment process, the hospital promptly notified communes with dengue fever patients to proactively prevent and avoid spreading. And not only communes with patients, Nghi Loc district organized to instruct people in the whole district to do a good job of environmental sanitation, kill mosquito larvae, and spray insecticide.

Doctor Tran Quoc Viet - Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Nghi Loc General Hospital said: To cope with the situation where the epidemic may break out in the area, the District General Hospital has arranged for an infusion station and 35 beds, prepared enough medicine to be ready to admit and treat dengue fever patients; established an external emergency team ready to support the facility when there is a request for emergency treatment of dengue fever patients.
Up to this point, no dengue fever patients have been detected in Tuong Duong district, but the district has been proactive in preventing the epidemic. Doctor Tran Van Cong - Deputy Director of Tuong Duong District Medical Center said: The district has established an emergency transfer team of 07 officers, an epidemic prevention team of 10 officers; 2 ambulances have been mobilized to be ready when medical facilities report dengue fever patients, and to promptly admit patients for treatment.

The district has fully prepared medical equipment, sprayers, sprayers and protective gear for epidemic prevention and control, and 3 sets of epidemic prevention drugs: Cloramin B: 35 kg for environmental sanitation at risk areas, 1,000 Aquatabs tablets for water treatment. Direct communication was organized: in residential areas and in the form of integrating people's meetings, broadcasting 18 communication articles on the commune radio system, 154 articles on village and hamlet loudspeakers, and distributing 2,000 leaflets to the grassroots.
