Nghe An: 146 students receive Vallet Scholarships

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 30, 146 excellent Nghe An students of the 2016-2017 school year were honored to receive the 17th Odon Vallet scholarship held at Vinh University.

Attending the ceremony were Professor Odon Vallet, Professor Tran Thanh Van, representatives of the Vallet Scholarship Fund, and the Science and Education organization "Meet Vietnam".

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of Departments, branches and a large number of teachers, students.

With a tradition of studiousness and being a locality with outstanding achievements in education and training, Nghe An is honored to receive special attention from the Vallet Scholarship Fund. This year, the Fund awarded 146 scholarships with a total value of 1,330,000,000 VND. Each scholarship for students is worth 16 million VND, for pupils is 9.5 million VND.

The Vallet Scholarship was founded by Professor, Doctor of Science Odon Vallet (Sorbonne University, Paris), sponsoring outstanding Vietnamese students and young scientists through the Science and Education organization “Meet Vietnam”.

Since 2001, Vallet Scholarships have awarded more than 33,000 scholarships to Vietnamese students with a total amount of over 250 billion VND.

In Nghe An alone, from 2001 to present, more than 1,400 scholarships have been awarded to students in the province with a total amount of over 12 billion VND.

Present at the ceremony, Professor Odon Vallet and Professor Tran Thanh Van confided: "We are happy and proud to meet the excellent students of Nghe An. We hope that the scholarships can help them succeed and give wings to their dreams. We hope that they will study and practice well because they are the future of the nation. The development of the country rests on their shoulders. Wishing the Vietnam - France friendship to always develop."

Comrade Le Minh Thong hopes that the sentiments of Professor Odon Vallet, Professor Tran Thanh Van and their colleagues will give wings to the intelligence and dreams of the young generation of Nghe An to soar high and fly far to integrate with the international intellectual community. Successfully realizing Uncle Ho's aspiration, bringing the Vietnamese people and Nghe An homeland "to step onto the stage of glory to stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents".
