African swine fever has been occurring in Nghe An since March 2019. After 10 months of implementing disease prevention measures, this dangerous disease for pigs has been controlled in many localities.
According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, as of December 4, 325 communes in Nghe An have declared the end of African swine fever. Currently, only 42 communes in 16 districts have had the disease for less than 30 days.
There are 5 localities that have been free of the epidemic, including: Quy Chau, Con Cuong, Nam Dan, Tuong Duong and Thai Hoa town.
Although African swine fever has been controlled, people should not restock their herds when biosecurity measures have not been applied to prevent the disease, because the pathogen still exists and the risk of recurrence is very high.
