Nghe An: 53 Chinese people illegally entering the country were fined over 200 million VND
(Baonghean.vn) - In addition to one case under 18 years old who was fined half, the remaining 52 people were fined 4 million VND/person by authorities for crossing the border without completing exit and entry procedures.
On April 8, Nghe An Provincial Police said that the unit had just issued a decision to impose a fine and hand over the case.53 illegal immigrantsfor Chinese authorities.
After completing the centralized quarantine period and testing negative for Covid-19 twice, these 53 Chinese citizens were fined a total of VND210 million by Nghe An Provincial Police. One case was fined VND2 million because he was under 18 years old; the remaining 52 people were fined VND4 million each for crossing the national border without completing exit and entry procedures in Clause a, Point 3, Article 17, Decree 167 of the Government.

Regarding the driver and vehicle owner, Nghe An Border Guard has transferred the case file, requesting Nghe An Provincial Police to prosecute for the crime of "Organizing and brokering for others to illegally exit, enter or stay in Vietnam" under Article 3348 of the 2015 Penal Code.
Previously, on March 9, 2021, Nghe An Border Guard coordinated with relevant units to intercept a sleeper bus of Tra My bus company when it was running on National Highway 1A through Hoang Mai town. At that time, in addition to 53 Chinese people who entered the country illegally, there were also 4 Vietnamese people on the bus.
By the evening of March 17, taking advantage of a loophole, four Chinese people escaped from the quarantine area. Two were later arrested by Hung Nguyen District Police. The remaining two managed to catch a bus and escape. However, just a few hours later, both were arrested in Ky Anh District (Ha Tinh), while on a bus.
