Nghe An: Three cousins ​​drowned while learning to swim

(Baonghean.vn)- On the afternoon of July 11, at Choac dam, Tien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An, a tragic drowning incident occurred, killing three cousins.

On the evening of July 11, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dai, Chairman of Tien Thanh Commune People's Committee, Yen Thanh District, said that the search and rescue team had found the bodies of three cousins ​​who drowned while practicing swimming at Choac Dam. The identities of the three deceased female students living in Tien Thanh Commune were identified as: Nguyen Thi Loan (born in 2004, 7th grade student), Truong Thi Mai (born in 2003, 8th grade student) and Truong Thi Thuong (born in 2006, 5th grade student). Of which, Mai and Thuong are biological sisters and Loan is a cousin of Mai and Thuong.

Initial information provided by Mr. Dai, at around 4:30 p.m. on July 11, Loan, Mai, Thuong and a cousin went to Choac dam to practice swimming. Because the three female students were swimming in deep water, they unfortunately drowned.

Seeing this, the cousin who was with her panicked and ran to call for help. At around 6:30 p.m. on the evening of July 11, the bodies of all three female students were found under Choac Dam and handed over to their families for burial according to local customs.

It is known that Choac dam stores water for irrigation in Tien Thanh commune, with a depth of about 2m to 4m. This dam is about 200-300m away from residential areas.
