Nghe An issues 4 criteria for selecting textbooks for grade 1

The set of textbook selection criteria just issued by the People's Committee includes 4 criteria and 16 indicators.

The first criterion is that textbooks must be suitable to the local socio-economic conditions. Specifically,Textbook content must ensure continuity and be consistent with the culture, history, and geography of the locality and community. The structure and content of textbooks must be open, flexible, highly differentiated, and can be adjusted to suit many groups of students in the locality.

Second, textbooks must be suitable for students' learning. The content of textbooks must be basic, scientific, modern, practical, easy to understand, easy to use, and must meet the requirements of the program.

Textbooks also need to be presented attractively, with balance and harmony between text and image channels, ensuring aesthetics, creating interest and being suitable for the characteristics of the subject and suitable for the psychology of the students' age.

Third, textbooks must be convenient for teachers. In particular, the topics and lessons in textbooks focus on integrating interdisciplinary and intra-disciplinary knowledge; are designed and presented in a rich and diverse manner with many activities, creating conditions for teachers to flexibly choose the form of organization and teaching methods, helping teachers to be able to conduct teaching and learning in connection with real life. The structure of textbooks creates conditions for schools, professional groups and teams to develop plans to test and evaluate students' learning outcomes in accordance with the school's educational plan and educational activities in the direction of developing learners' capacity and qualities.

Finally, textbooks must be suitable for the conditions of teaching and learning at general education institutions.

To meet this criterion, the content of textbooks must be suitable for the physical facilities, equipment and other teaching conditions of the educational institution. The sources of electronic learning materials and resources that supplement textbooks are diverse, rich, useful, easy to exploit and use, suitable for the conditions of the educational institution. At the same time, the structure of textbooks can help schools and teachers be proactive, flexible and creative in developing and implementing educational plans according to the conditions of each school and each locality under the guidance of educational management agencies.

To make the selection of books effective, setting up criteria will help schools be more convenient. The province's criteria also clarifies the previous guidance documents of the Ministry to suit the conditions and characteristics of Nghe An.

Currently, according to the plan, after announcing the criteria, at the end of April, the School Council will also meet to propose the final set of textbooks to start using for the 2020-2021 school year.
