Nghe An: Caught a Lao-licensed vehicle illegally transporting nearly 2 cubic meters of Clove wood
(Baonghean.vn)- At around 11pm on June 9, on National Highway 48 through Nghia Thuan Commune, Nghia Dan District, the Environmental Police Department (PC49) of the Provincial Police coordinated with Traffic Police Team 1.48 (PC67) - the Provincial Police to inspect and discover a passenger car with a Lao license plate carrying nearly 2m3 of illegal wood.
Accordingly, from information provided by the masses, the Traffic Police Department (PC49) has been monitoring and learned that at Tay Trang border gate (Dien Bien), there is a passenger car with a Lao license plate carrying illegal forest products that will be circulating through Nghe An province.

Immediately, the authorities sent a working group to verify and clarify. At 11pm the same day, the authorities discovered a black passenger car with license plate U2-2468 driven by Phan Van Giang (born in 1973), residing in Hamlet 3, Dien Hong Commune, Dien Chau District, moving from the Ho Chi Minh Trail towards National Highway 48, showing suspicious signs. PC 49 Department coordinated with Traffic Police Team 1.48 to signal the car to stop.

Upon inspection, the authorities discovered that the vehicle contained a quantity of finished wood. At the time of inspection, the driver was unable to present legal documents regarding the said amount of wood.
By the afternoon of June 10, at the PC49 headquarters, the working group searched the vehicle and seized 11 wooden bars from the auxiliary fuel tank and another 12 similar wooden bars in the tunnel area of the vehicle. According to records, the above mentioned wood consisted of more than 20 bars, 1-3m long, 10-20cm wide, suspected to be clove wood.

During the investigation, Mr. Ho Van Tuan (born in 1984), the car owner residing in Dien Hong commune, Dien Chau, confessed that he bought and transported the above mentioned wood from Laos to Vietnam for consumption.
