Nghe An: 7-year-old boy drowns under irrigation dam
(Baonghean.vn) - Two children went to Eo Chim dam to bathe together. While bathing, one child drowned.
The tragic drowning incident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon (August 8) at Eo Chim dam in hamlet 1, Quynh My commune, Quynh Luu district.
Accordingly, at the above time, Tran Van A. (born in 2011), son of Tran Thi Phuc, living in the same area, went with a male friend of the same age to pick blackberries on the mountain. After picking, due to the hot weather, the two children invited each other to take off their clothes and go to the dam to bathe, then A. was swept away by the water.
Seeing that, the friend was so scared that he ran back to tell relatives to come and retrieve the child's body.
It is known that A. is the only son of Ms. Phuc - a single woman. Due to difficult circumstances, he usually stays at home with his grandmother while his mother goes to the South to work. When the accident happened, Ms. Phuc was still working and had not returned home.
The local authorities have taken the child's body back to bury according to local customs.
