Nghe An spends over 12 billion VND to prevent and control African swine fever

(Baonghean.vn) - By July, Nghe An had allocated over 12 billion VND in reserve funds to purchase chemicals and protective gear to prevent, control and contain African swine fever and support pig culling.

According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, by mid-July, the People's Committee of Nghe An province had allocated over 12 billion VND in reserve funds to serve the work of preventing, fighting and controlling African swine fever in the province.

Of which, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine spent nearly VND8.2 billion to buy 50 tons of chemicals and protective gear to destroy pigs, and provide them to localities to serve the work of preventing, fighting and controlling the epidemic. The localities that received the most chemicals were: Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Ky Son, Do Luong, Que Phong, because these localities had many outbreaks and epidemic points. In addition, the Central Government also provided Nghe An with 30 tons of chemicals.

The remaining 4 billion VND will support the work of the checkpoints at 2 checkpoints in the North of Nghe An and on Ho Chi Minh road; support the first and second pig culling.

As of July 16, in Nghe An, African swine fever has occurred in 1,965 households, 413 hamlets, 150 communes, 18 districts, towns and cities. The total number of pigs culled is 7,966, with a total weight of 359,035.8 kg. Of which, 57 communes of 15 districts, cities and towns have been declared free of the epidemic.

Currently, the epidemic is complicated in 5 districts of Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu, Que Phong, and Do Luong.
