Nghe An proactively responds to low pressure that is likely to strengthen into a storm
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, around June 22-23, 2024, the northern and central East Sea areas are likely to form a low pressure area; it is forecasted to strengthen into a tropical depression/storm.
Around June 23-25, the tropical depression/storm is likely to directly affect the northern and central areas of the East Sea (including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago) and the Gulf of Tonkin. In addition, currently due to the influence of the Southwest monsoon, the central and southern areas of the East Sea (including the waters west of the Truong Sa archipelago) have strong Southwest winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, waves from 1.5 - 2.5m high.
To proactively respond to low pressure areas that may form in the East Sea and strong winds at sea, minimizing possible damage, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province requests the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of coastal districts and towns and related agencies and units to:
Closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds, large waves at sea and low pressure areas that may form in the coming days.
Timely notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
Prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when there is a situation.
Organize on-duty seriously and regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense.
