(Baonghean.vn)- Nghe An is a key and complicated province in terms of drugs with 21/21 districts, cities, towns, 376/480 communes and wards, of which 141 communes, wards and towns are key to drugs.
These are the figures given at the Conference summarizing the work of drug addiction treatment and post-treatment management held on the afternoon of March 16. The conference was chaired by Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Provincial Police.
In 2016, the whole province coordinated to establish drug addiction treatment records and organize drug addiction treatment for 1,904 drug addicts, including 823 drug addicts treated at home and in the community, 261 drug addicts treated voluntarily and 820 people treated compulsorily at centers.

However, many localities are still confused and have low results in the work of compiling records to send addicts to compulsory drug rehabilitation. In particular, Anh Son and Tan Ky districts have not been able to send any subjects to compulsory drug rehabilitation since 2014, although there are quite a lot of drug addicts in the area.
The main reasons are that the subjects using illegal drugs cannot be caught red-handed to make a record; the method of using test strips is ineffective; the addict's family is not honest in the declaration process, the subject leaves the place of residence... Vocational training and job creation for drug addicts after rehabilitation still face many difficulties, and loan procedures still face many obstacles.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Xuan Dai requested that departments and agencies step up the fight against, prevention and rehabilitation of drug addiction. During the implementation process, it is necessary to focus on propaganda work, find ways to remove obstacles in the management and record-keeping of drug addicts for rehabilitation; promote the socialization of rehabilitation work and organize appropriate rehabilitation forms for each subject; encourage businesses to participate in vocational training, job creation and have a mechanism to help with loans to help addicts stabilize their lives soon.

At the Conference, units and localities organized a signing ceremony to commit to implementing drug addiction treatment targets in 2017. The leaders of the Provincial People's Committee also awarded Certificates of Merit to 12 groups and 13 individuals who had outstanding achievements in drug addiction treatment and post-treatment management in Nghe An province in 2016.
The province has 12 treatment facilities and 6 methadone dispensing facilities. From now until 2020, Nghe An is planning and rearranging the network of drug rehabilitation facilities. In particular, the number of drug rehabilitation facilities will be reduced from 8 to 3; the remaining drug rehabilitation facilities will be converted into voluntary drug rehabilitation facilities. |
