(Baonghean.vn) - Con Temple Festival and Nine-Room Temple Festival in Nghe An are two of the five festivals that have just been recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in the 14th period. On June 28, information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An said that Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien has just signed Decision No. 2067/QD-BVHTDL on announcing the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, Phase XIV.

Among the 5 intangible cultural heritages of the 14th National Intangible Cultural Heritage, there are two festivals in Nghe An: Con Temple Festival (Hoang Mai Town) and Nine-Room Temple Festival (Que Phong District).

The other three festivals are the Chem Temple Festival (Thuy Phuong Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi), the Bao Ha Temple Festival (Bao Ha Commune, Bao Yen District, Lao Cai Province); and the Forest Worship Ceremony (Mu Dang Mai) of the Thu Lao people (Ta Gia Khau Commune, Muong Khuong District, Lao Cai Province).
Thus, currently the whole country has 167 intangible cultural heritages that have been decided by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritages.
Con Temple Festival Con Temple is located on Diec hill, on the bank of Mai river, Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town; The temple was built in the 13th century and developed on a large scale under the Le dynasty, restored many times under the Nguyen dynasty. During the years of resistance against the US, Con Temple was destroyed, so the festival was not held. In 1989, the Con Temple relic was restored; in 1997, the temple was recognized as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information, and was reconstructed and restored to a more spacious state. In 1999, the Con Temple Festival was restored. Con Temple Festival is held on January 20 and 21 (Lunar calendar) every year with the wish for a year of calm weather, calm seas, lots of seafood, praying for luck and peace; it is a traditional folk cultural activity imbued with the local character of fishermen. Nine-Room Temple Festival The Nine-Chamber Temple was built in the early 14th century in Pu Cho Nhang, called Ten Pon (temple on the mountain), in Khoang village, Chau Kim commune, Que Phong district. The temple worships Then Pha (worshiper of heaven), Nang Xi Da (daughter of heaven) and Tao Lo Y, who had the merit of building villages and establishing muongs. In front of the temple are placed 9 white and black buffaloes symbolizing nine villages and ten muongs. At the Chin Gian Temple Festival, which takes place from February 14-16 (Lunar calendar) every year, in addition to the solemn, respectful and traditional rituals, the festival is also bustling with many folk games such as tug of war, crossbow shooting, throwing balls, bamboo pole dancing, gong beating, cooking sticky rice, regional culinary competitions, camping, beauty contests, etc. |
