Nghe An: Rescue of 8 crew members and fishing boat with engine failure at sea

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 1, 8 crew members and fishing boat NA 93672 TS in distress at sea were towed to shore safely by a ship of Squadron 2 after nearly 20 hours of search and rescue.

Previously, at 11:30 p.m. on February 27, the Nghe An Border Guard Command received a notice from the Ben Thuy coastal information station that the fishing boat NA 93672 TS and 8 crew members, captained by Tran Van Toan - residing in hamlet 8, Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu district, were operating about 22 nautical miles northeast of Mui Ron, Ha Tinh province, with engine failure, drifting at sea beyond repair, at risk of sinking, and in need of urgent assistance.

After receiving the notice, the Nghe An Border Guard Command directed the coastal border posts to coordinate with local authorities and notify ships operating at sea of ​​the location of the distressed ship so they could come to its aid. At the same time, the BP 06-19-01 ship and 15 officers and soldiers of Squadron 2 were dispatched to the rescue.

At 3:30 p.m. the same day, the Border Guard rescue ship approached the distressed ship and conducted rescue, provided health care to the crew members and towed the distressed ship to shore.

At 7 a.m. on March 1, the border guard ship towed the distressed fishing boat to the port of Squadron 2 safely and carried out handover procedures to local authorities.
