Nghe An closes markets and stops business to ensure safety before storm Bualoi

According to the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, around this evening, the center of storm Bualoi may directly affect the mainland of the provinces from Quang Tri to Nghe An. It is expected that after 7 p.m., the storm will make landfall in the North Quang Tri - Nghe An area. This is a very strong storm with a wide circulation, capable of causing strong gusts of wind, big waves, heavy rain, flash floods and landslides.

To ensure the safety of people and property, from 12 noon today, most localities in the province have implemented measures to close traditional markets. In the wards of Truong Vinh, Thanh Vinh, Vinh Phu, Vinh Loc, Vinh Hung... urgent documents have been issued, requesting the temporary suspension of market operations.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dac - Head of Vinh Market Management Board said:“As soon as we received instructions from the Ward People's Committee, we requested 100% of the traders to close their kiosks, lock the market, and temporarily stop doing business until further notice. Since yesterday, the work of bracing, reinforcing, and moving goods and assets in flood-prone areas has been completed by the traders."

At Hung Dung market, after the morning meeting on September 28 ended, the Market Management Board also urgently announced to all traders to close their stalls, lock their counters, and stop doing business from 12 noon. Mr. Nguyen Khac Thanh - Head of Hung Dung Market Management Board said:“100% of the traders have complied with the closure, waiting for further notice. We maintain 100% of our staff on duty, checking each kiosk, and securing weak points to ensure safety against storms and rains.

Contacted by phone, Ms. Trinh Thi Ha - a vegetable, root and fruit trader at Hung Dung market said that due to concerns about the storm, she only took a limited amount of goods. However, as of this morning, there were still some items that were difficult to preserve. To minimize the damage, she posted the sale online and shipped the goods directly to customers.“If we don't sell everything, it's acceptable, because family safety is still the most important thing," Ms. Ha shared.

Not only in markets, on many streets, small traders have also proactively closed their kiosks and temporarily stopped doing business. However, food stores, especially those selling processed foods, still maintain operations to serve the increased demand of people before the storm. Mr. Bui Dong - owner of a seafood store on Tue Tinh Street said: "Customers order more processed foods than usual, we have to work overtime and mobilize more staff to prepare. We mainly deliver to the door to limit travel in the rain and wind."

According to records, in many other localities in the province, due to the nature of morning markets, trading activities in the afternoon are already sparse, now even more deserted.
