Nghe An: Communes along Lam River proactively evacuate people before storm No. 10
Implementing telegrams from all levels, as of the afternoon of September 28, communes along Lam River are at high risk of flooding, local authorities are proactively and synchronously deploying measures to prevent and combat storm No. 10 (Bualoi).
At noon and early afternoon on September 28, despite heavy rain, members of the Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue Committee of Lam Thanh commune (formerly Hung Nguyen district) still divided themselves to go to hamlets to propagate and mobilize people to implement storm prevention and control measures. Especially the work of evacuating people to safe shelters, preventing the risk of human loss due tostorm number 10cause.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Ha - Chairman of Lam Thanh Commune People's Committee, today (September 28), along with pruning trees, the commune has directed hamlets in the area to dredge and clear canals to prevent flooding; propagate and mobilize people to reinforce houses, place sandbags on roofs, and evacuate households in low-lying areas to safe locations.

In particular, the commune's loudspeaker system continuously broadcasts instructions from all levels, updates on the situation of storm No. 10 and solutions to minimize damage. Thanks to that, storm prevention and control work has been deployed promptly, especially in hamlets in the area outside Ta Lam dike. Up to now, the commune's functional forces have evacuated nearly 190 households with nearly 300 people to safe shelters.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Ha said: “Determining that storm No. 10 would make landfall in the area and bring heavy rain, the commune leaders have simultaneously deployed storm prevention and control measures; evacuated people from dangerous areas, especially the elderly living alone. Minimized damage to housing and power grid systems; protected agricultural production; flooded low-lying areas…”.

Like Lam Thanh commune, Thien Nhan commune (formerly Nam Dan district) has actively and promptly deployed measures to respond to storm No. 10. The Commune's Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue Committee has inspected and reviewed dilapidated houses at risk of collapse to reinforce them, mobilized people to cut down trees on the hamlet's roads and in the house's premises; and relocated households living in old, weak level 4 houses to a safe place.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh - Chairman of Thien Nhan Commune People's Committee said: "We will closely monitor the developments of the storm and floods caused by the storm's circulation. We will organize full updates and timely information on natural disaster situations so that people can proactively respond.ensure safety; propagate and guide people on measures and skills to respond, especially when there are strong winds, floods, and landslides. Prepare human resources, materials, means, and equipment to proactively deploy when incidents and situations occur according to the "4 on-site" motto. Review and prepare plans to evacuate people from dangerous areas.

Besides Lam Thanh and Thien Nhan communes, up to now, communes located along Lam River in Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts (old) have promptly deployed measures to respond to storm No. 10.
