Nghe An: Raiding a gambling den at night, arresting 10 subjects
(Baonghean.vn)- In early April 2016, the Criminal Investigation Department (Vinh City Police) continuously received reports that large-scale gambling cases in Nghi Phu commune often occurred in the form of dice shaking. The gambling problem has caused many people to suffer, brothers to be at odds, husband and wife to accuse each other...
Identify subjects and establish a project
Upon receiving information from the public, Vinh City Police Criminal Investigation Department was present in the area to investigate and collect information. During the process of controlling the area, the detectives discovered a number of new subjects over 22 years old, without wives or children, but had become "bankers" in gambling in the locality and neighboring communes. The investigation agency of Vinh City Police assigned the criminal investigation department to establish a project coded 416B to eradicate the gambling ring in the area.

Gamblers arrested |
Immediately after that, a working group of experienced detectives and investigators was assigned to Nghi Phu commune, coordinating with the commune police to deploy a plan to catch the gamblers red-handed.
Through information gathering, the detectives identified 4 locations that sheltered gamblers, including the house of Nguyen Khuong (born 1987) in Hamlet 12. Khuong's house often had many people from inside and outside the hamlet coming in and out, mainly gambling addicts. Notably, in addition to the main gate, Khuong's house also had a side gate, hidden behind the garden. This gate only "served" gamblers coming in and out of Khuong's house.
While the detectives were investigating and monitoring, they received a reliable source of information that a large gambling operation would be held at Nguyen Khuong's house, with more than 10 participants, mostly locals. Notably, among the above subjects, there was a gambler who, after losing a large amount of money, "mortgaged" his car to continue gambling in the hope of getting back the money he had lost... Considering that the above information was well-founded, the Task Force directed the detectives to deploy a plan to catch the above subjects red-handed.
Casting nets
On the night of April 25, undercover detectives discovered a number of people entering Khuong’s house through the side gate, including many “famous” gamblers in the area. The approach and approach to this subject’s “closed-off” house was carefully considered and calculated by the Task Force.

Evidence of the case |
After 40 minutes of ambush, the detectives discovered the gamblers huddled together to gamble. Seeing that the opportunity to solve the case had come, two detective teams were assigned to break into the house and catch the suspects red-handed. The first detective team broke into the house from the main gate. The second detective team broke in from the back side gate.
As soon as they received the signal to crack the case, two detective teams immediately broke into Nguyen Khuong's house and caught the subjects red-handed gambling with dice.
The arrested subjects include: Nguyen Khuong (homeowner), Nguyen Thanh Ngoc (born 1986), Nguyen Van Huan (born 1979), Nguyen Van Cuong (born 1979), Ho Quang Khan (born 1971), Nguyen Van Thang (born 1975), Dang Van Trung (born 1987), Nguyen Truong Son (born 1988), Pham Ngoc Dung (born 1993), Nguyen Van Ky (born 1992) all residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city and Nguyen Cong Minh (born 1979) residing in Hung Chau commune, Hung Nguyen district. The seized evidence includes 62 million VND, 1 set of dishes, 4 dice. As for Nguyen Van Tam (born 1984), residing in Nghi Phu commune, taking advantage of the darkness to escape. 3 days later, Tam surrendered to Vinh city police. |
The successful eradication of the above gambling den has contributed to "cooling down" the gambling problem, restoring security and order in Nghi Phuc commune. After consolidating the case file, the Vinh City Police Department initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the defendants, and decided to temporarily detain the above 10 subjects for gambling to further investigate the case.
