Nghe An: Expected to have over 53,000 hectares of large timber production forests
(Baonghean.vn) – The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just issued a decision approving the Project on Restructuring the Nghe An Forestry Sector by 2020, which includes the goal of achieving forest coverage of 57% and increasing the industry's production value by 4 - 4.5%/year.

The project also aims to protect and develop existing forest areas, gradually meeting the demand for wood, forest products, consumption and export. Existing planted forests will be converted into large timber production and business forests of 15,000 hectares, new large timber forests will be planted on 8,000 hectares of non-forested land, and large timber forests will be replanted on 30,000 hectares of exploited land.

The large forest tree groups are: Acacia auriculiformis, Eucalyptus, Lat hoa, Lim xanh, Sao den, Mo tram, and pine, of which Acacia is the main tree with an area of 90%. The project also considers pine as the strength of Nghe An province and maintains the development of 21,000 hectares of pine planted in protective and production forest areas to combine economic development and environmental protection.
