Responding to business needs
In May 2016, the 2016 Corporate Governance - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) training course organized by the Center for Investment Promotion and Development Consulting in collaboration with the University of Economics and Top Olympia Business School attracted over 80 participants. They are managers of businesses in the province.
Coming to the class, students were equipped with knowledge, strategic planning skills, dynamism, sensitivity to adapt to the business environment; building corporate culture... After 3 years of implementation, Nghe An has organized 35 classes on business start-up, administration and intensive administration - CEO; with 3,317 students participating. The classes have received positive responses from the business community and entrepreneurs because they meet their needs and aspirations; at the same time, gradually supporting businesses to develop sustainably and effectively.
Mr. Tran Van Minh - Director of Hong Minh Company Limited, a student participating in the 7th course, CEO class said: The CEO class opened by the Department of Planning and Investment, gathered professors, doctors, economic experts, with a flexible and practical curriculum, helping entrepreneurs expand their knowledge, supplement their knowledge of economic integration; and be proactive in strategic planning. Through the class, I understood how my company needed to change to adapt? Why do employees leave after working until adulthood? Why is the self-awareness of employees poor and the company's business efficiency not high... From there, I rebuilt the management and working processes of some departments.
As for Mr. Dinh Tien Thu - Director of Thuy Luc Joint Stock Company, the lessons from the CEO class are important in helping him gain more knowledge in managing the business to overcome difficulties and crises. Mr. Thu said: I have changed my management methods, relationships with partners and employees; I look at customers in a different way, that is, approaching, caring, and serving. With employees, I consider them my first customers, so I am more flexible in management and operation. The working environment has also changed because of that, becoming more friendly and civilized.
Meet integration requirements
However, the reality is that the majority of Nghe An businessmen have grown up from practice. They mainly participate in the business world based on their own experience or inherited from their families, and have little formal training. Therefore, there is still a group of businessmen who do not have a correct perception or assessment of the need to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge to create a solid foundation for business development.
Mr. Truong Quoc Tuan - Director of Thien My Company Limited, Chairman of Hung Loc Industrial Park Business Association said: In the context of economic integration, to keep up with the trend, training in management and operation knowledge is very necessary for entrepreneurs. However, partly due to lack of time, partly due to lack of interest in training programs, currently in Hung Loc Industrial Park there are 11 enterprises but very few entrepreneurs participate in training and development classes.
Another reason is that most small and medium enterprises in the province operate quite independently and have not actively participated in local associations. Therefore, it is difficult for the propaganda and dissemination of contents related to training for enterprises and entrepreneurs in the area to reach enterprises. On the other hand, there are many enterprises far from the center, so access to information, finding opportunities to study and improve qualifications is still limited. The training needs of the business community are very large, but the support budget from the provincial budget only meets 30-40%.
After 3 years of implementation, the project “Training Nghe An Entrepreneurs in the period of 2012 - 2015” has attracted about 30% of enterprises in the area to participate. The thinking on management, business administration, knowledge on integration of entrepreneurs and enterprises has changed positively. Identifying entrepreneurs and enterprises as the important “nucleus” in the economic and social development of the province, the goal of the project is to build a strong entrepreneurial team in both quantity and quality; adapting to deep and wide integration into the regional and world economy.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Director of the Center for Investment Promotion and Development Consulting: In the plan for the period from 2016 - 2020, the project will continue to expand the business subjects, classify the participants, to organize classes, build programs, and topics suitable to the needs of businesses. From now until 2020, it is expected to open 68 classes, including: business start-up classes, business administration and specialized business administration... 10 seminars, specialized conferences; expected to attract about 3,200 participants.
Management, operation and working environment at Thuy Luc Joint Stock Company have changed positively after the company's leadership representatives attended the business training course. |
The training program for entrepreneurs and enterprises contributes to the goal that by 2020, Nghe An will have 13,000 - 15,000 operating enterprises, including many large-scale enterprises with strong resources; many entrepreneurs have national brands and are competitive in the Southeast Asian region.
The survey results at the end of 2015 showed that 20% of the students after completing the startup classes had established businesses, 30% of the students had creative business ideas and 40% of the students after attending the management classes, continued to register for intensive management classes and CEO training. The training programs of the project also contributed positively to supporting businesses in effective production and business activities; making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province. |
