Nghe An: Using grenades to threaten police when arrested

On October 17, Yen Thanh District Police (Nghe An) said they were detaining Dang Quang Vy (39 years old, residing in Bao Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District) to clarify the acts of Resisting a person on official duty and Possessing military weapons.

Previously, at around 3:00 p.m. on October 14, the Yen Thanh District Police task force summoned Vy to verify and clarify the fight incident. While completing the file, the police discovered that Vy was serving a sentence for "Intentionally causing injury", so the task force executed the arrest decision.

While working with the police at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Bao Thanh commune, Dang Quang Vy did not comply but used a knife and a grenade in his pocket to threaten the working group. The leaders of Yen Thanh police immediately arrived at the scene to persuade Vy. However, he still held out, holding a grenade in his hand to threaten.

After receiving instructions from Nghe An Provincial Police, at around 9pm the same day, Yen Thanh District Police agreed to let Vy return to his brother's house. At 10pm the same day, with the persuasion of the police and his relatives, Vy handed over the grenade. Taking advantage of the time when the police were checking the grenade's safety, Vy escaped during the night.

By the morning of October 17, Yen Thanh District Police had arrested Dang Quang Vy, who was hiding at his father-in-law’s house in Thinh Thanh Commune. According to the police, Vy was a reckless, drug-addicted, and terminally HIV-positive individual.
