Nghe An: Nearly 216,000 students participate in the school milk program - For Vietnamese stature

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of September 28, in Nghia Dan, Vietnam Television in collaboration with the Ministry of Education & Training, the Ministry of Health, and TH Group organized a live television program "School Milk - For Vietnamese Stature".

The program was held at 3 locations: Hanoi (National Convention Center); Nghe An (TH farm, Nghia Dan district); Ho Chi Minh City (Nguyen Hue flower street), broadcast live on VTV1 channel, Vietnam Television.

Attending the event were comrade Nguyen Thien Nhan - Politburo member, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, leaders of the Party, State, Ministries and branches, along with a large number of teachers and more than 2,000 kindergarten and primary school students at all 3 connection points.

At Nghe An bridge, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and comrades members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Departments and branches in the province.

According to Decision 1340/QD-TTg approving the School Milk Program to improve nutritional status, contributing to improving the stature and physical strength of preschool and primary school students, the goals are: By 2020, 100% of preschool and primary school students in poor districts will drink milk; 70% of preschool and primary school students in urban and rural areas will drink milk; Meeting the energy needs of preschool and primary school children, reaching 90-95% by 2020; By 2020, the average height of school-age children (6 years old) will increase by 1.5-2cm in both boys and girls compared to 2010.

Implementing the School Milk Program, TH Group has pioneered research and clinical testing of school milk on 3,600 students and launched the TH school MILK product. This is the only school milk product confirmed by the Ministry of Health to be effective in improving the nutritional and micronutrient status of children.

In Nghe An, the School Milk Program was implemented by TH Group and Nghe An province in 17/21 districts, cities and towns and 215,851 students in kindergartens and primary schools registered to participate, reaching 50% of the total number of students in the province. Each child is provided with 1 box (180ml) of fresh milk per day, 5 days a week.

With its capacity, TH Group is a partner of the Ministry of Education and Training in the School Milk Program, starting from the 2016-2017 school year.

TH Group alone has committed to supporting the cost of school milk products worth VND200 billion within 5 years (from 2016-2021) through the School Milk Account for Vietnamese Stature. The successful program will bring nutritional benefits to nearly 12 million preschool and primary school students nationwide.
