(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 14, the Legal Committee of the Provincial People's Council held a meeting to review and agree on a number of contents of the report to be submitted to the upcoming second session of the 17th Provincial People's Council.Comrade Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, Head of the Committee chaired the meeting.

Attending the meeting were comrade Cao Thi Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Regarding the report on the implementation of traffic safety and order in the first 6 months of the year and the implementation of tasks for the last 6 months of the year, the meeting participants highly appreciated the innovations in the work of testing and granting driving licenses; solutions to separate traffic and open more turns at points where traffic jams often occur in the context of the rapid increase in the number of private vehicles in the province.

In addition, many opinions still expressed concerns because although there has been a decrease in the criteria, there are still many serious traffic accidents. The situation of oversized and overloaded vehicles has not been completely handled. Previously, the main cause of traffic accidents was motorcyclists, but in the first 6 months of 2016, it has shifted to car drivers.

Contributing solutions to the report, the opinions suggested improving the management of passenger cars with Lao license plates; the opening of more bus routes has created favorable travel conditions for people, but it is necessary to pay more attention to the activities of this sector because it has created unhealthy competition between companies; the Transport sector also needs to soon develop a plan, invest in enforcing penalties using a camera surveillance system on the roads; strengthen propaganda work, raise awareness of traffic participants.

Also this afternoon, the Legal Committee of the Provincial People's Council listened to and commented on the following contents: Report of the Provincial People's Committee on the work of receiving citizens, handling complaints and denunciations; the work of fighting and preventing corruption in the first 6 months of the year; tasks for the last 6 months of 2016.

Comments on reports and opinions of delegates who made recommendations and reports need to clarify the problems and causes in the slow settlement of complaints and denunciations; the reception work of grassroots leaders is still limited. The declaration of assets is still a formality, and supervision of this work needs to be strengthened. Regarding solutions to prevent and combat corruption, it is necessary to closely link it with administrative reform; strictly handle cases that have been inspected and discovered.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Phan Duc Dong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, Head of the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee emphasized: It is necessary to have measures to closely monitor patrol forces, handle the situation of overloaded and oversized vehicles; propose additional funding to repair degraded roads, fix black spots; have documents requesting localities where many accidents still occur to clarify the causes in order to have solutions.

Strengthening coordination between agencies and units in the work of preventing and combating corruption; paying attention to the work of mobilizing and appointing officials; promoting the role and responsibility of Party committees and leaders, preventing corruption and waste in agencies and units; improving the spirit and responsibility of public service ethics of officials and civil servants.
