Nghe An: Father sentenced to 13 years in prison for raping his own daughter

(Baonghean.vn)- The defendant was charged with "Child rape" and the victim in court was none other than the defendant's biological daughter.

On the morning of December 28, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened the first instance criminal trial of defendant Hoang Van Thuan (born in 1978, residing in Nghi Loc district) who was prosecuted for "Raping children". The victim was HTM (born in 2003), Thuan's biological son.

According to the indictment, at about 3:00 p.m. on August 27, 2017, Thuan returned home and saw his daughter preparing dinner. There was no one at home at the time, so he immediately had the intention of raping the child. Thuan closed the door and committed the act of animal cruelty, despite M.'s resistance.

A while later, Ms. H. (Thuan's wife) came home and was shocked, shouted and hugged her daughter. Ms. H.'s family reported the incident to the police, and Thuan was arrested by Nghi Loc district police shortly after.

In court, Thuan admitted that he was wrong to have raped his biological daughter, but said that this behavior was due to him drinking alcohol beforehand.

Ms. H. did not request civil compensation from the defendant but requested the court to strictly judge her husband's wrongdoings.

After considering the aggravating and mitigating circumstances, and considering that the defendant's actions violated both the law and ethics, the panel sentenced Hoang Van Thuan to 13 years in prison for "Raping children".
