Nghe An: More than 148 thousand farming households are good at production and business

On the afternoon of December 13, in Vinh city, a conference was held to review the coordination program between the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Farmers' Association in 2017.

In 2017, the Provincial Farmers' Association regularly reported to the Provincial People's Committee on the situation of agriculture, farmers, rural areas and the results of implementing coordination tasks according to Decision No. 673-QD/TTg of the Prime Minister. Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee issued a number of documents directing departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to coordinate with the Associations at all levels to implement the signed coordination program, ensuring timeliness.

During the year, the Provincial Farmers' Association coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Border Guard stations in the province to build 10 models of goat breeding in some localities. Promoted propaganda and mobilized members and farmers to actively participate in building rural infrastructure, contributing positively to the task of building new rural areas in the province.

In addition, the Provincial Farmers' Association also coordinates with departments and branches to carry out propaganda work for the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"; disseminate new knowledge about science and technology, build models for transferring and applying scientific and technological advances in the fields of agriculture and rural areas; organize training courses on techniques in cultivation and animal husbandry.

As a result, in 2017, 148,127 households met the standards of good production and business households at all levels.

However, according to the assessment of the Provincial Farmers' Association Standing Committee, the coordination between the Farmers' Association and a number of departments, branches and People's Committees at district and grassroots levels has not been regular; many places signed coordination programs but could not organize implementation.

In 2018, the Provincial Farmers' Association determined to implement 7 main contents: Focus on directing the preparation and organization of the Farmers' Association Congresses at all levels for the 2018-2023 term; Well implement the contents signed between the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Farmers' Association.

Pay attention to building and replicating effective collective economic models and value chain linkages in 2018; propagate and mobilize farmers to actively participate in implementing the national target program on new rural construction; promote services, support capital and agricultural materials for farmers to develop production; train and transfer science and technology, and vocational training for rural workers...

Conduct monitoring activities on fertilizers, pesticides, veterinary drugs, animal feed and ensure food safety and hygiene; monitor mechanisms and policies to support farmers in production development.

At the conference, members said that next year, departments and branches need to strengthen coordination with the Provincial Farmers' Association to play a better role in the development of agriculture, rural areas and farmers.
