Nghe An: More than 30 projects and non-projects sponsored by foreign non-governmental organizations

(Baonghean.vn) - Accordingly, Nghe An has 20 programs, projects and 11 non-project programs implemented by foreign non-governmental organizations with a total committed aid capital of more than 4.5 million USD, an increase of 1.18 times compared to 2018.

The conference was attended by 800 invited delegates from foreign non-governmental organizations operating in Vietnam. On the Nghe An province side, there were representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Union of Friendship Organizations.

Taking place over 2 days (December 12-13), the conference will organize 6 thematic seminars to discuss key areas such as: Education and training and vocational education; Health; Cooperation between foreign non-governmental organizations and businesses for sustainable development in Vietnam; Solving social issues, overcoming the consequences of war; responding to climate change...

The conference aims to evaluate the cooperation between Vietnam and foreign non-governmental organizations in the 2014-2019 period, and share information and lessons learned during the cooperation process.

According to the Non-Governmental Aid Coordinating Board, since 2014, the number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) has increased from 465 to 507 in 2019. The value of non-governmental aid in the period 2014-2018 was 1.47 billion USD, focusing on the fields of health, socio-economic development and social and environmental issues.

In Nghe An province alone, there are 20 programs, projects and 11 non-project programs implemented with a total committed aid capital of more than 4.5 million USD, an increase of 1.18 times compared to 2018 (committed aid capital of more than 3.8 million USD).

Currently, 58 organizations have registered to operate in Nghe An, 5 organizations are waiting for additional registration.

According to the orientation given at the conference, in the coming time, it is necessary to seriously, synchronously and effectively implement the national program on enhancing cooperation and mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid for the period 2019-2025 according to Decision No. 1225/QD-TTg dated September 17, 2019 of the Prime Minister.
