Nghe An: Mobilized over 45 billion VND for relief and humanitarian activities in 2018

Implementing the 2018 work plan, the Red Cross Association at all levels in Nghe An continues to perform well the tasks of organizing the association. In parallel with developing members and building the "Project to rearrange the organizational apparatus, streamline the payroll and restructure the team towards improving the effectiveness and efficiency of operations...", the Association has organized meaningful programs such as "Kindness Semester", awarded scholarships to poor students, organized the "Safe School" program to equip students and teachers in schools in flood-prone areas with knowledge of drowning prevention...

During the year, the Association mobilized and organized a total of more than 45 billion VND to help over 98,000 people. Specifically, it supported 58,185 people with an amount of 27.02 billion VND in society; awarded 14.9 billion VND/49,218 gifts in the program "Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims", exceeding the target by 9,218 gifts; continued to organize well the program "Warm Tet at the border - Connecting love"; "Living to love" in border communes; effectively implemented the campaign "Each organization and individual is associated with a humanitarian address", thereby mobilizing more than 2 billion VND to help 927 addresses. In addition, the Association also organized other meaningful social activities such as: "Support to go to school", "Mid-Autumn Festival in the village", "Cow bank", Humanitarian blood donation; timely mobilize and organize relief operations to areas affected by natural disasters and floods in the province.

The conference pointed out a number of advantages, lessons learned as well as limitations; at the same time, proposed key tasks in 2019. Accordingly, Nghe An Red Cross at all levels strive to continue to carry out the movement well; organize humanitarian fundraising activities, humanitarian months and charity activities... to practically celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Red Cross.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 collectives and 12 individuals with outstanding achievements in 2018; the Central Red Cross Society awarded Certificates of Merit and Commemorative Medals to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements and contributions to the work of the Society./.
