(Baonghean.vn) - After 2 days of being discharged from the hospital and returning to his hometown in Nghe An, the patient had a high fever and was transferred to the hospital for isolation and testing.

On the evening of August 21, the Tropical Disease Center (Nghe An General Hospital) said that the unit is isolating and treating, and taking samples for testing for Mr. CVP (39 years old, Nghi Van commune, Nghi Loc district).

The patient used to work in Equatorial Guinea. He was diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 and malaria in Guinea, treated in the host country for 7 days, then returned to Vietnam on July 29 for further treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh Branch 2. On August 18, he was discharged from the hospital and returned to his hometown to self-isolate in his room at home in Nghi Van commune. On August 21, he had a fever of 38 degrees Celsius and was immediately transported by ambulance to the isolation area of Nghe An General Hospital.

After examination, the doctors determined that this person had a fever of 37.2 degrees Celsius, signs of infection. The heart was clear, both lungs were not raled, no cough, no difficulty breathing.

Doctors suspected that the patient might test positive again, so they strictly isolated him and took samples for testing.

Notably, during his treatment in Hanoi, Mr. P. shared a room with a patient from Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City (a room for only 2 people). Five days after being discharged from the hospital, this patient tested positive again. The Ministry of Health announced this case as "patient 1007". This re-positive case forced Tan Phu District authorities to urgently lock down 17 houses and quarantine dozens of related people.

It is expected that by tomorrow morning (August 22), CVP's test results will be available.
