(Baonghean.vn) - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long hopes that UNESCO will consider Nghe An as a destination, support heritage conservation, develop science and education, and strongly promote tourism development.

On the morning of January 15, the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) delegation led by Mr. Michael Croft - Chief Representative of UNESCO Office to discuss strategies and action programs in the fields of culture, science and education in Nghe An province.

Attending the meeting, on behalf of Nghe An province, there were comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors and Vinh city.

Efforts in the cooperation process

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered a welcome speech to the working delegation.UNESCOand introduce some main features of the socio-economic situation of Nghe An.

At the meeting, the representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs summarized the outstanding results and action programs as well as recommendations of Nghe An province in the fields of UNESCO activities. Accordingly, in terms of education, the school network has been completed and developed in accordance with practical requirements and meeting the learning needs of the people.

The province has 1,568 kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, and high schools; 21 continuing education centers; 6 universities, 9 colleges, 13 intermediate schools, 22 vocational education centers, 23 vocational education facilities, and 460 community learning centers. The results of national, regional, and international excellent student exams are constantly at the top of the country. In particular,On September 23, 2020, UNESCO recognized Vinh city as a member of the Global Network of Learning Cities.

About science, research and application activitiesscience and technologyhas a positive impact on production and life, and has made a positive contribution to the socio-economic development, national defense and security of the province. The fields of agriculture, medicine, society and humanities, engineering and technology, and natural sciences have all achieved important achievements.

Regarding Culture, 960 heritages have been inventoried, of which 7 heritages have been included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritages, 65 people have been awarded the title of Meritorious Artisan by the President. Develop and organize the implementation of programs and projects on intangible cultural heritage, maintain and promote the practice of heritage well..Up to now, Vi and Giam folk songs are being practiced in 21 districts, cities and towns, with more than 100 clubs and a total of more than 2,000 members.

As of 2018, the whole province has 2,602relics - scenic spots, of which 449 relics have been ranked at all levels, including 5 special national relics, 143 national relics, and 302 provincial relics. Nearly 50,000 relics and antiquities, including 3 national treasures, are being preserved and promoted in museums.

Regarding strategy and action program, Nghe An builds sustainable development goals with reasonable scale; has a team of teachers and qualified facilities; progressive mechanisms and policies; education and training quality leading the North Central region, among the top in the country; meeting the requirements of national development, international integration and the 4.0 industrial revolution.

Scientific research and technology development activities are associated with practical applications and businesses, creating a number of high-quality, large-volume products and strong brands from science and technology.

Continue to preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics, serving traditional education associated with tourism development according to the planning of the relic system of Nghe An province until 2030, with a vision to 2050.
