Nghe An: Hoang Mai fishermen catch giant red grouper

(Baonghean.vn) - Ship NA 99399 TS of fisherman Nguyen Van Phuong, Phuong Hong block, Quynh Phuong ward has just returned from Hoang Sa fishing ground with 4 tons of grouper. During this trip, the crew on board caught a giant red grouper, weighing more than 10 kg.

Red grouper is a rare fish that usually lives in deep caves or coral reefs in the open sea, and fishermen rarely catch it. To catch this fish, the crew on Mr. Phuong's boat had to use bait to lure the fish out of the cave, then use a net to catch it.

Normally, red grouper only weighs from 1-3kg. The grouper Mr. Phuong caught weighed over 10kg, with skin as red as blood.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hung, a sailor on the ship, took a souvenir photo with a giant red grouper.

Currently, the price of frozen red grouper weighing 1.5kg or more is 350,000 VND/kg, and that of fish weighing less than 1.5kg is 300,000 VND/kg. In particular, for live red grouper, seafood stores quote prices from 680,000-850,000 VND/kg for fish weighing 2kg or more.

Red grouper has delicious, nutritious, sweet, chewy red meat, so it is sought after by chefs and sophisticated guests. Compared to other types of sea fish, red grouper contains very little mercury. The larger the grouper, the more nutritious the fish is, and its meat can be processed into many different dishes.
