Nghe An: Environmental pollution, risk of accidents from illegal material dumping sites

Quynh Van Commune (Quynh Luu) currently has about 30 brick manufacturing facilities. Therefore, it is not difficult to see the scene on both sides of National Highway 1A, where construction materials for brick production are piled up and spilled out onto the highway.

Mr. Tran Van Lam in Quynh Van commune said: These brick manufacturing facilities not only cause dust pollution, but also affect traffic participants when large trucks come in and out to load and unload goods, leading to a high risk of accidents.

In addition to the production of dashboard bricks that cause dust pollution and traffic safety problems, there are many illegal construction material sites in Quynh Luu district that cause public outrage. For example, the illegal material gathering site of Mr. Pham Son in Hamlet 6, Quynh Ba Commune.

Some local residents reported that large trucks going in and out of this sandbank day and night caused noise and traffic jams. Especially when it is windy, sand dust flies into residential areas, forcing households to keep their doors and windows closed all day to avoid the dust.

Discussing the issue of this illegal material dump, Mr. Nguyen Van Linh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Ba commune said: This land was abandoned and the commune leased it to Mr. Pham Son to gather materials to serve the people. We will inspect to promptly correct the above problems.

Quynh Luu district currently has over 20 construction material storage sites, mainly concentrated in the communes of Quynh Thuan, Quynh Ngoc, Quynh Giang, Quynh Van, Quynh Ba... Most of the construction material storage sites in Quynh Luu are spontaneous and unlicensed.

Mr. Nguyen Son Ha - Head of Economic and Infrastructure Department, People's Committee of Quynh Luu district added:In 2019, the District People's Committee coordinated with the interdisciplinary team to inspect and fine 4 households producing dashboard bricks encroaching on the traffic corridor of Van - Bang road. Currently, the construction material storage yards have not been inspected and handled.
