Nghe An: Breaking up a ring trafficking fireworks from abroad to Vietnam
(Baonghean.vn) - Authorities have just dismantled a firecracker trading, transportation, and storage ring led by Vo Van Phap, successfully arresting 5 subjects and seizing over 400 kg of firecrackers.
Through the investigation, the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a suspected ring related to the illegal trading of large quantities of firecrackers, led by Vo Van Phap (born 1991), residing in Nghi Hoa commune, Nghi Loc district.
Phap often colluded with a number of local people who were doing business abroad, then contacted via social networks to order large quantities of fireworks from abroad and transported them by unofficial routes to the area. Phap chose the hiding place at the house of Nguyen Tu My (born 1985), in Kim Nghia hamlet, Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district, where there were few people passing by. In addition, Phap also sold fireworks to retailers who wanted to buy and sell fireworks near the area where he lived.

Realizing that the firecracker trafficking ring led by Vo Van Phap operated with sophisticated and professional methods and tricks, the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special project to fight.
Applying synchronous professional measures, on November 20, the Criminal Police Department, Nghi Loc District Police, Nghia Dan District Police coordinated with the Provincial Police's professional department to deploy many working groups with dozens of officers and soldiers to simultaneously arrest and search locations, successfully arresting 5 subjects for the act of "trafficking in prohibited goods".
In addition to Vo Van Phap, the remaining four suspects arrested by the police include: Nguyen Tu My residing in Kim Nghia hamlet, Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district; Nguyen Dinh Tuan (born 1992), Nguyen Thi Luyen (born 1980) and Nguyen Dinh Linh (born 1989) all residing in Thuong Tho hamlet, Nghi Hoa commune, Nghi Loc district.

The police seized evidence including: 420 kg of various types of firecrackers; 1 car; 5 mobile phones, and many other related evidences.
At the police station, the subjects initially confessed that after Vo Van Phap bought firecrackers from Nguyen Dinh Tuan and brought them to Nghe An, he would divide them into small pieces and gather them at Nguyen Tu My's house, waiting until the end of the year, near Lunar New Year, to sell them to customers in localities in Nghe An province and neighboring areas.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department is continuing to preside over and coordinate with local police units and relevant professional departments to expand the investigation.
